Environmental Health Trust reports: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the US government agency that regulates wireless and radio communications, has opened a public comment cycle on the country's radiofrequency (RF) exposure rules that apply to phones, cell towers and other wireless devices. The FCC released Public Notice DA-26-971 in ET Docket 13-84 on 11 September 2026, its first formal step on a 2021 federal appeals court ruling that found the agency's decision to keep the 1996 RF exposure limits arbitrary and capricious. The 1996 limits remain in force, and the FCC's court response is due 25 September 2026.
