Elektrosmog a zdravie, a Slovak civic association, said in its own press release of 28 October 2026 that Slovak law will require heat and water meters and heat cost allocators in apartment buildings to have remote radio readout from 1 January 2027, unless the owner proves that is not cost-effective or feasible. It says owners who refuse radio-module meters are often threatened with penalty billing, and that Slovakia's Ministry of Economy has not published its method for judging cost-effectiveness, while confirming that self-reading always stays possible. The association wants a consumer's right to self-reading written into law, and repeats its long warning about the health, safety and privacy risks of meters that transmit continuously.
