Gigaherz published a July 11 field report from Langenthal, Switzerland, arguing that official descriptions of radio-based smart meters as typically transmitting once per day do not match observed operation in one building. The report says an ISKRA AM550 meter system with a Vivavis gateway sent LTE transmissions every 45 minutes day and night, even without solar panels, an electric vehicle or third-party power contracts, while an unused fibre line was already available in the building.
