Voters in Monterey Park, California backed a permanent citywide data center ban by more than 86 percent, in what Broadband Breakfast reports is the first U.S. ballot-box decision to block the facilities for good. The measure, known as Measure NDC, cannot be overturned by the city council and would require another public vote to reverse.
