"In SAEF-EMF, as Cinciripini points out, no specific biomarkers have been shown to correlate with symptoms, meaning people who show these biomarkers do not necessarily display the same symptoms and vice versa. Also, chronic psychosocial stress leads to similar biomarkers, such as oxidative stress and consequent inflammatory processes in humans (Aschbacher et al., 2013). This does not undermine the reality of the disorder and suffering whatsoever. The experience of all symptoms is generated in the brain, and often there is low correspondence between symptoms and physiological biomarkers, even in "objective" disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or heart disease (for an overview see Van den Bergh et al., 2017a,b). For example, a recent study comprising more than 16.000 asthma and COPD patients showed that a combination of psychosocial variables explained at least five times more variance in breathlessness compared to a combination of biomedical variables, including spirometry (Ballering et al., 2025)."
