Broadband Breakfast reports that Shentel, a Virginia-based internet service provider (ISP) selling fiber broadband under the Glo Fiber brand, is going against the industry pattern of pairing broadband with mobile phone plans. While cable operators from Charter and Comcast to Mediacom and Cable One bundle wireless to keep customers, Shentel CEO Ed McKay says the company does not offer mobile service and does not feel it needs to, with its standalone multigigabit fiber service sufficient to fuel customer growth.
