Six candidate front pages. Five built overnight on 28 October, each making a different argument about what the middle of the page should be, plus v8, which is the one assembled out of the parts you picked.
The assembled page, revised after Mads' first pass. v2's top stories with the category and journal above the title, then a five-row Latest that hands the rest of the list to the radar, and v4's rail in the order In other media, Voices, On the radar, Next dates, with no scrollers anywhere. v6's field-this-week board without the piece list, Scientist's corner showing one conference and one funding call with see-all links, People's Voices, the cartoons, the videos at this page's width, and Old News Revisited in the historical archive's colours. Green on hover throughout.
Open v8 โThree leads carry the judgement, then every published item in one reverse-chronological list, one line each. The categories become filter chips instead of nine stacked grids.
Newspaper hierarchy: one dominant lead, two seconds, then the three master categories as parallel columns of five headlines each. No explainer text, no summaries in the rail.
A plain chronological feed on the left, and a sticky rail on the right holding the five things that change on their own: mentions, voices, next dates, the radar count and the newest cartoon.
An editorial dashboard, not a newspaper: windowed counters, a coverage map and the taxonomy as bars, then the exact pieces those numbers count.
Six items with room to breathe, then everything else Mads already likes. Testing whether the page is too long because it shows too many items, not because each item is too big.
