HHS Study Announced
Activist Post reports that on January 15, 2026, the US Department of Health and Human Services confirmed it is undertaking a study on the impact of electromagnetic radiation emitted by cell phones. The study was directed by President Trump's MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) Commission.
HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon told The Wall Street Journal that several webpages previously concluding cell phone radiation did not cause harm had been removed, including one from the FDA.
Skepticism from Researchers
Joel Moskowitz of UC Berkeley declined to participate in the study, expressing concern it would "kick the can down the road" given the administration's broader deregulatory stance on technology.
Conflicting Evidence
The article reviews the ongoing scientific debate, including:
- The 2018 NTP study finding "clear evidence" of cancer in rats
- The 2026 Korea-Japan replication studies finding no significant effects
- WHO systematic reviews rated "high certainty" for animal cancer evidence
