A study by Tirono and Samsu Hananto in the Avicenna Journal of Medical Biotechnology exposed diabetic mice to alternating magnetic fields at 50, 100, 150 and 200 Hz with magnetic flux densities of 0.3 and 0.6 mT for 20 minutes a day over five days. The largest blood-glucose reduction (92.11%) appeared at 100 Hz and 0.6 mT, and the largest hemoglobin increase (81.11%) at 150 Hz and 0.3 mT.
Cholesterol, blood viscosity, erythrocyte count, and kidney and heart cell density showed non-linear changes across the tested combinations. The authors conclude that optimal effects do not always occur at the same frequency or flux density, and frame the exposure as a possible alternative to long-term chemical diabetes drugs.
